Ukrainian Bakhmut turned 455 years old. Today, this date is much more than just a number on the calendar — it is a symbol of struggle, remembrance, and unbreakable spirit. On a rainy day at Independence Square in Kyiv, a large-scale event "Bakhmut. Unbreakable Names" took place. The event brought together families of fallen soldiers, the missing, and prisoners of war, military personnel, as well as representatives of authorities, the public, and volunteers.
Bakhmut is now destroyed and temporarily occupied by Russian invaders. However, it lives in the hearts of its residents, in the memories of internally displaced persons, and in the names of the heroes who defended it. On the eve of the anniversary, "Ukrposhta" presented a special stamp featuring the legendary stela and historical buildings of the city, the design of which was chosen by the residents of Bakhmut themselves.
Despite the bad weather, over 400 participants gathered at the capital's main square. People came with photographs of their loved ones to honor the memory of the fallen with a moment of silence. A joint prayer for the defenders was held by Father Konstantin, chaplain of the Presidential Brigade.
Representatives of the Bilohorod community participated in the event, including Victoria Polishchuk, secretary of the Council of Veterans, whose husband is considered missing. The head of the community, Anton Ovsienko, emphasizes: behind each official status stands a specific person, for whom parents, wives, husbands, and children wait at home every day.
Today in Kyiv was a reminder that Bakhmut is, above all, its people, their pain, faith, and hope. Communities continue to support the families of heroes so that no one is left alone with their waiting.
Eternal memory to all patriots who gave their lives for Ukraine. We believe that every prisoner and every missing person will return home, and a free Ukrainian Bakhmut will flourish again under a peaceful sky.
